 CHUCK BERRY

Chuck Berry, born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1926, is celebrated as the Father of Rock and Roll. With his sharp guitar riffs, clever storytelling, and charismatic stage presence, he laid the foundation for a sound that would forever change popular music. Blending rhythm and blues with country influences, Berry created a style that spoke directly to the spirit of American youth and set the standard for generations of musicians to follow.
His rise began in the mid-1950s with hits like

“Maybellene,” “Roll Over Beethoven,” and “Rock and Roll Music,” songs that captured teenage life with energy and wit. In 1958, “Johnny B. Goode” cemented his place in history as one of the most iconic songs ever written. Berry’s ability to combine humor, rhythm, and social commentary into a driving rock beat made him both a hitmaker and a pioneer, inspiring artists from Elvis Presley to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

Over the years, Berry continued to release timeless tracks like “Sweet Little Sixteen” and “Memphis,” while his live performances became legendary for their intensity and showmanship. His signature “duck walk” and fiery guitar solos thrilled audiences around the world. Beyond the stage, Berry’s music achieved cultural immortality when “Johnny B. Goode” was chosen to travel aboard the Voyager spacecraft, carrying rock and roll into the stars as a message to the universe.

With a career spanning more than six decades, Berry received countless honors, including induction into the inaugural class of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Until his passing in 2017, he remained a symbol of authenticity, innovation, and raw rock and roll spirit. Chuck Berry’s influence is woven into the DNA of popular music, securing his place as one of the greatest and most important figures in music history.
