David Bowie: You’re Not Alone is not a traditional exhibition. There are no glass cases, no fixed path, and no timeline to follow. Instead, Lightroom in King’s Cross becomes a fully projected, room-scale experience built around Bowie’s performances, imagery, music, and own words.
The show is presented in thematic chapters and runs on a loop, with a full cycle lasting around one hour. Visitors can enter the experience without needing a fixed beginning or end, letting the story unfold through sound, scale, and movement.
Inside Lightroom’s 11-metre-high space, rare and familiar material from the David Bowie Archive fills the walls, including performance footage, photography, drawings, lyrics, notes, and sketches. Bowie himself guides the experience through narration built from interviews across his career, giving the show a direct, personal feel rather than a standard museum-style interpretation.
The sound is also a major part of the experience. Using Lightroom’s spatial audio system, the music has been newly reworked for the room by award-winning sound designer Gareth Fry, placing visitors inside the world of the songs rather than simply playing them back.
For fans, the experience also includes official David Bowie merchandise on-site, with exclusive Perryscope product available at Lightroom.
David Bowie: You’re Not Alone is open at Lightroom, 12 Lewis Cubitt Square, King’s Cross, London, from 22 April through 10 October 2026.
Tickets are available now, starting from £25 for adults and £15 for students and under-18s.
